Every time it rains it rains...

treasure from heaven...and heaven is receiving treasure parcels from Vintage Village in Snellville, Georgia.

Oh, how I miss stopping in to visit this lovely shop.  Well I'm thankful for today's technology as I can shop from their Facebook page as often as Debbie can post enticing images. LOL

It was a banner day as two parcels arrived on Saturday and I couldn't wait to open them up.

The smaller parcel contained a stunning hand crocheted with knitted edging piece that was made for a fireplace mantle.  I have such a weak spot for needlework and this will be displaced in my new home (when I find one, LOL)  It also had the vintage tablecloth with scalloped edges and embroidered tone on tone doves.

Best of all was this fantastic, antique clock face with the sweet note tied to it, "missing the time you spend visiting us, we miss you and a gift of time to remember us".  My heart is full but this lovely token.

Two days after I purchased the needlework, this gorgeous, splint market basket  was on their page along with an early paper heart box and Victorian jewelry casket.

I collect these jewelry caskets and always looking to add to my personal collection.

Such a lovely little vintage Valentines heart box from Necco.

What made my heart beat fast...I am head over teakettle with this pretty little market basket which is in marvelous condition.  No broken splints an the handle is strong.   A true American antique, this will hold my hand spun next to one of my spinning wheels.

Okay, so lesson learned, and new personal policy...when you see something on the Vintage Village facebook page, ask them to hold shipping for a few days because you will find more treasure. Thank you Debbie and her wonderful dealers for working with me long distance.

Back on the house hunting train again, the offer I made fell through, too many high ticket items needed replacing and the seller wasn't open to fix/repairing them.  After spending the morning looking at homes, I stopped in a Goodwill in the area.  Interesting how Goodwills' differ greatly from state to state.  Georgia Goodwill's are fantastic with color coded racks and simple pricing.  Florida Goodwill's do vary as you go father south but clothing is stuffed tightly onto racks without any rhyme or reason, they also sell store closeout items and prices are assigned like a thrift store without any real sense.  Example, I pulled three different blouses from a rack and they ranged in price from $3.99 to $14.99 and they were not designer pieces.  Go figure.  Additionally, there is no senior citizen discount...of course, that could be because half of the population is senior citizen, LOL.

Still, I found a few nifty pieces:

Lovely Bavarian teapot.  It was missing it's lid, but too pretty not to bring home.

Nice, English flow blue luncheon plate in the coveted Willow pattern.

Stunning pair of Hutschenreuther dinner china.  Heavily encrusted gold over a lovely inlay pattern.  Would make a pretty setting with a romantic dinner for two.

Another lovely weekend in sunny Florida.  I have been blessed and wishing blessings for you and those you love. Sea Witch

On to a new adventure

Hello dear readers.  As you have noticed, I have not been posting weekly these days.   The reason is I have been working towards a new adventure, a new direction and it is to be closer to the sea.  I have sold my home and my sweet Gynness and I will be moving to Florida.  We are both excited about the new possibilities of a new home and for me...new booth space.  I have been going through withdrawals, having closed my two spaces to prepare for this move but I have been visiting some of my favorite places for treasure before I left.  I will miss Vintage Village in Snellville.  I first found this marvelous place in July 2000 when I first moved to Atlanta from Flagstaff.  A lovely little place with amazing dealers and hands on owners.  I sold from Vintage Village for 7 years until my late husband had heart surgery and I pulled out of all selling for a year to provide nursing support.   I never stopped buying from Vintage Village as they always had  such marvelous finds.

They moved to new digs a year ago and the shop has never looked better.  I will miss visiting it first hand, but Debbie keeps her facebook page active with lots of photos and I suspect I will be purchasing on line alot.  Here are a few photos I took with my last visit before I go south.

So many pretty item for holiday decorating.

Vintage Village will always be one of my favorite things.

What a sweet touch to use vintage baby booties as stocking garland.

Crazy about this small doctor's bag.

Always look up at the Village as treasure abounds from the floor to the ceiling.

Lovely vintage Christmas balls from favorite dealers, Paul and Jeanine.

One of my weakness', vintage oil lamps.

What a sweet face.

A glass full of frozen Charlotte's, another dealer I adore, The Nesting Spot.

Pretty skate against a vintage frame makes for a pretty door display.

One of the last treasures I took home from Vintage Village, and from one of my favorite dealers...My Vintage Heart, a delightful antique children's book titled, "The Three Emigrants".  Written in prose, it tells the story of three children from Europe who travel to America during the turn of the century.  I will bring this out each Christmas.

Thank you everyone from Vintage Village you have filled my home with lovely things and my heart with marvelous friendships.  I will carry each of you with me always.

Hit my local goodwill one more time as well and found these pretty items.

1940s Japanese evening bag.

I can never pass up a gorgeous sea shell, yes it is the seawitch in me, and this stunning Bull Mouth Helmet is a keeper.

Pretty little gravy boat is a late 1890s piece.

And finally this lovely little Edwardian biscuit keeper.

One more stop before the weekend ended.  I had to say goodbye to Buford Queen of Hearts folks and interesting enough, one of the first pieces I ever purchased from the Queen was an EAPG goblet by King glass, fine blue diamond cut, circa 1890s.  Imagine my surprise when I discover the matching compote.

So the circle is complete and I carry this beauty with me to my new digs in Florida.

I will most likely be away from blogging until the new year as I locate a place to live and get settled in, so I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a gentle new year.  And always, wishing blessings to you and those you love.  SeaWitch.

Curious Possessions and other finds

It was a spectacular weekend in Atlanta with perfect weather for hunting treasure and playing in the yard.  Curious Possessions, a shop in Snellville was having an outdoor, parking lot sale so I had to make a fun run out to see what I could find.

There was treasure everywhere and these dealers had items priced to move.   A gal pal dealer even had everything in her outdoor space at a $1.00.  Here are some of the finds I came home with:

Vintage, 1970s curved cathedral glass hanging lamp.

Darling 1950s prom dress.  Brilliant blue with sequins and netting.

Lovely Victorian, milk glass oil lamp that was electrified.  I have a top piece that will go well with it so I will do a new electric setup and this will make a pretty desk lamp.

I then moved on to the interior of Curious Possessions and found a terrific man's straw boater from the 1900s.  This beauty is in fantastic condition.

Stunning pair of Victorian salt and pepper shakers are deeply carved and frosted glass with sterling tops and mother of pearl toppers.

Can't visit Snellville without stopping by my favorite shop, Vintage Village.  I always find something marvelous there.

I am head over tea kettle with this fantastic purchase.  Shaker type wooden hat box with wooden knobs. Most likely French, this is now in my personal collection.

From Snellville, I headed out to some of my other favorite haunts.

Nice mid century leaded cathedral glass hanging window piece.

Sweet pair of Art Deco silverplated creamer and sugar.
Unusual shape and in marvelous condition.

Pair of Depression era, serving bowls in that coveted Depression Green.

Unique shaped teapot from "The Stevens" Hotel in Chicago.

A pile of darling Christmas themed tablecloths.

Found another stained glass piece. This one is a larger window pane hanging.

Once I got home with my treasure, Gynness and I went for our evening walk.  She was exhausted after sniffing through all of my finds and the walk and sprawled out to snooze the rest of the evening away.

I hope it was a lovely Mother's Day for all and blessings to you and those you love.  SeaWitch

UPDATE: It's coming. IT'S HERE!!!

It's coming.  IT'S HERE!!!  It is spectacular and it will be delivered this week.  Have I grabbed your attention?  When it arrives, I will update this blog post.

Swoon, oh so swoon.  I have watched this stunning, Germantown, Pennsylvania, American Black Walnut bookcase be auctioned off four times at my local auction house.  Each time it was put back on the auction block for not meeting the consigner's reserve which was several thousand dollars.  I have coveted this piece since I first saw it 6 months ago. Everything that pushes my buttons, American Walnut wood, an American piece and Lady Liberty at the top impediment.

Well, lucky me, the consigner lifted the reserve and the usual folks who would have made my ceiling their opening bid were not at Saturday's auction and this Sea Witch was the winning bidder.

I think this piece knew it wanted to come home with me as I will cherish it so.

American Empire, ahh, a furniture period I adore.   More popularly known as Minerva (Athena) on Empire and Revival furniture, stalwart Pennsylvanians preferred Lady Liberty.   Next to my spinning wheels and captain's desk, this is my most cherished piece of furniture.
Thank you for letting me share my enthusiasm with you.

For now, I am already overjoyed with the time change.  I have been a whirling dervish of activity...cleaned out the second inventory room, took another vehicle load to Goodwill and I can now see inventory clearly and can access it quickly.  I am so glad I finally got these two rooms reorganized and now it is on to the garage.

Made a visit to Vintage Village to see the spring treasure.  This shop only gets more beautiful as the seasons change.  Spring abounds here with garden goodness and Easter chicks and bunnies.

My Vintage Heart always finds the prettiest pieces and this dreamy white, kitchen cupboard with maize yellow inserts is "the bees knees".

Get your garden on with bunnies, spools and flowers.

Pretty vintage umbrella with blue Goose box. Darling decorative elements.

This space had marvelous vintage books and garden pieces.

Sweet vintage look bunny and basket is looking for a home.  He is about 14" inches tall and just so cute.

Peeps are hiding throughout the shop.

This little peep is nesting in an old clock body.

Sometimes the framing of display pieces is perfect. This dealer brought together lovely vintage items with faux peonies against a vintage screen, back wall and antique shutter.  Lighting was perfect and this is the shot I captured.  I adore the "painterly" look this has.

So many pretty things to find here.

You can never have too many utensils, especially with the warmer weather coming. Everyone loves to cook and eat outside.

Pink feathers and sequins on sassy hats and a pretty beaded handbag.

Click your heels three times and say, "There's no place like Vintage Village, there's no place like Vintage Village."

Great folding wooden chairs would look cozy at a lake or mountain home.

Darling vintage Cutex kit is the perfect gift for a nail technician.

This dealer has the best American Primitive pieces, EVER!

Faded roses, chippy gathering basket and pretty linens.

This adorable cherub makes me laugh.  If I had a tall cupboard in my bathroom, this little imp would be above it with a handtowel to give me.

Came home with a bag of treasure from Vintage Village following morning auction wins.

Lovely, hand hammered silverplated bowl.

Darling little decorative lamp is an Antiques Roadshow offering.

Won a box lot of antique books.  French, German and British publications and some as early as 1831.

Nice box lot of German mugs and steins.

One of the sweet little bunnies that was running around Vintage Village.

Lovely, hand crocheted filet panel of spring flowers.  Circa 1900s

As I downsize at home, I am bringing in pieces to sell.  This heavy and solid oak table with drawer has so many layers of paint on it and a perfect end table.

An auction win, this stunning and heavy pair of vintage candlesticks are silver over copper. They polished up beautifully.

Nothing here really relates but I do like the way it came together. LOL

Another personal piece that I am selling as part of my downsizing. About 10 years ago, I purchased a huge lot of acrylic on canvas pieces from an old man who painted non stop.  He would reproduce a variety of "master's" works and this one is called the "The Blue Fox" by Marc Franz, 1911.   This piece always makes me smile.

Going to be a busy week for me as I am having work done on the house and then a total repaint.  Will be working from home all week as I wrangle contractors.   And of course, "it" is coming.  Wishing you a lovely week and blessings to you and those you love.  SeaWitch
