Fallin in the Queen

A weekend of cooler temps has got everybody looking forward to the changing season of losing our hot, humid summer and welcoming the kiss of cooler nights and eventually cooler days.  Had fun at Saturday's auction and won some lovely items.  Brought them into my spaces today but so many of the Queen's dealers have begun dressing their booths for fall that I had to share all of that autumn goodness.  Look for a later post on my weekend treasure hunt.

Everyone at the Buford Queen of Hearts is feelin "fall" all around.

Adorable scarecrow and owls created from repurposed vintage quilts. These are pure autumn delight.

Holiday entertaining will be upon us shortly and this lovely dining room set is looking for a new home.

This space always has the coolest decorative pillows.

Pumpkins of every color and fabric are ready to set the harvest mantle and table.

Decorative crate, wooden bowls and a happy rooster.

Lovely leaded, stained glass lamp is warm with fall colors.

Antique marigold carnival glass will set a lovely Thanksgiving table.

Sweet little rag doll looks comfortable on this pretty ladderback chair.

Soft, neutral tones are lovely for fall.

Now is the time to start looking for those furniture pieces you will need for the holidays.

This little pumpkin gal is ensconced in velvet and looking all cute.

Pumpkins and geese, a winning combination.

This space always has the most elegant of decorative elements.

How can you not smile when you see all of this marvelous fall treasure.

Delightful Jack O Lantern is happy sitting on this little scale.

Gorgeous, primitive blanket chest and fall pumpkins.  Don't forget the sweet fox.

I want everything on this mantle.

My heart beats faster when I see windsor style chairs.  What a lovely table set.

Get your game wreath on, football is a fall tradition.

The summer may be nearly over, but you can switch over from cool drinks to something hot, wrapped up in your favorite blanket as you sit on these vintage beach chairs.

Serve homemade pumpkin soup in this pumpkin soup tureen.

Wire containers filled with dries and silk and nested pillows are a winner.

A few touches of Halloween are also popping up.

Great looking basket is filled with everything you need to begin your table service.

Love those soft neutrals, they enhance all of what fall decorating has to offer.

Head over tea kettle with mad love for this huge, vintage pumpkin and witch hat and a lovely way to conclude this post.  I am looking forward to the next few weeks as I watch the Queen of Hearts transition from the end of summer into the warmth of fall. Lots of fall events are scheduled for the three locations at the Queen of Hearts Antiques and Interiors.  I will be posting that info on my Facebook page.

Have a marvelous week and blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch

Interesting finds

First weekend in about 60 days that wasn't wet, damp, cold or snowy. I took advantage of the break and finally did the chalk repaint on a pair of 1940s Old Hollywood Italian tables. These beauties were a mess when I found them at a local thrift store.

Peeling and chippy yellow paint exposed the dull metal base of the cupids supporting the Italian marble tabletops. I wire brushed off the peeling paint, prepped it and then did a chalk paint in Clay Bisque with a Kona stain wax finish. Crazy thrilled with the outcome and both are in my main space at the Buford Queen of Hearts.

Close up of the cupids.
After the painting I did a little local shopping at a few of my favorite haunts, beginning with Vintage Village in Snellville.

They were holding this Mourning piece for me and then I found more treasure.
Love figural hands and this pair of porcelain doll hands have such a lovely lilt.
Sweet little silverplated frame is no bigger than 3 inches in height but it flew out of my space over the weekend.
Love vintage Westmoreland trinket boxes and even though this sweet slag glass lamb is missing the box, it's just to cute for words.
On to a favorite thrift store and I found this great glove box with a lovely village scene and a sassy little dog at the corner.
Another sweet Westmoreland piece, teeny tiny opalescent milk glass hen on basket is actually a covered salt.

I adore Victorian quad plate and this huge goblet is a keeper for my personal collection.

I wonder how many pitchers of lemonade or lemon meringue pies were made using this 19th centure lemon squeezer.

A great assortment of vintage sterling and silverplated spoons and a pickle fork.

Advertising piece, tin drinking cup courtesy of Dean Hardware Co.

Spring is just around the corner so I had to bring out sassy hats. This "faboosh" Frank Olive for Nieman Marcus, black and white straw hat is amazing. Olive designed for the stars and sold only in high end stores. Well made and always with style. Circa 1950s

Typical church lady hat is navy blue straw with big, sassy silk and velvet flowers.

My main space is packed to the gills with spring items.

Same with my Victorian space, lots to select from.
With the pair of Italian tables completed, I can now start on a personal piece. Here's hoping that the weather will cooperate. Don't forget, we change the clocks ahead an hour this weekend. So looking forward to those longer, sunny days of summer. Blessings to you and those you love. Sea Witch

First Holiday Open House of the Season

November is here and is the month for Holiday Open Houses at local communities.  They almost always all fall on the same week making it difficult to pick and choose which to attend.  The Buford Queen of Hearts (where I have two spaces) shook things up a little this year by holding the Buford location a week earlier than in the past. What a BRILLIANT idea.   Not only was it a gorgeous fall evening but in holiday fashion, the QoH had most of its 200 dealers working the floor and greeting guests, serving homemade goodies, wine, mulled spice apple cider.   The Queen was packed with shoppers and sweet Gynness and I couldn't wait to see all of the holiday goodness and take pictures for this blog post.  There are lots of photos to look at and if you missed last evening's opening night, you still have through Sunday to be a part of this annual tradition.

Pretty little canopy doll's bed is also perfect for your favorite furry four-legged.
One of my favorite spaces, this booth always has the niftiest decorative pillows EVER!  I missed out on buying some delightful Thanksgiving ones so I will have to grab one or two of these Christmas pillows.
The Buford Queen of Hearts dealers pulled out all of the stops to decorate their booths.
Love these pretty paper and glitter ornaments.
This space is filled with the prettiest tinsel trees ever.
Crazy about the pair of huge, brass candle sticks.  These will look lovely as the sun goes down and they throw that lovely golden glow from candlelight.
Sweet nutcrackers are always fun.
These adorable bears are huge and would look darling at front door entrance.
Crushing on this gorgeous Victorian, hide chair and ottomon.
Love the sparkle of vintage, aluminum trees.
How clever...thrift store silverplate is repurposed into serving trays using a wood base.
So many spaces are filled with goodness.
Just love this palest of pink, windsor rocking chair.
Thanksgiving and Christmas decorative elements abound.
Pure Joy!
Even more joy.  Huge piece of antique wood with painted JOY on it in Christmas Red.

My sweet Gynness has a great time strutting up and down the aisles, sniffing at the good smells and hoping a cookie would drop to the floor.

Lovely Christmas tree if filled with pinecones.
Crazy about this brilliant idea of a black and white, vintage photo behind a window.  Like peering into a time forgotten.
A metal bucket of Indian corn is pure, Thanksgiving delight.
Grateful, thankful, blessed.  Says it all.
Love these mica pieces for their quiet elegance.
Terrific "man cave" items are found everywhere within this space.
Large, stain glass panels and heralding angels are looking for a front entrance to decorate.
Bird cages make the sweetest village themes.
One of my favorite spaces for treasure.  Jonesing for that candle lamp to the left.
My neighbor's space on Queen Street, they always have the most fun, decorative elements.  This is a 5 foot tool metal tree filled to abundance with unique ornaments.
Sweet fox at the same spot.
Deer are such lovely decorative pieces for Christmas.
Marvelous vintage metal truck would look adorable holding Christmas cards.
Vintage, glass ornaments are in my space and many others.
This looks like a welcoming family room.  I can see little ones gathered around opening gifts.
Pretty little Christmas florals are perfect housewarming gifts.
These saws  just scream for bright red ribbons and garland.  What fun they would be to use as a decorative element.
Another beautiful space that looks like a page out of Country Living Magazine.
Marvelous, mid century boudoir chair takes on a nostalgic look with the celery green wreath pillow.
A festive display will look great just about anywhere.
Sweet lamb is looking for a tree to snuggle under.
Love everything about this display.
From the floor to the ceiling, there are holiday decorations everywhere.
Antique violin case has been repurposed into a pretty display.
Fragment's space always has the most "curious" of things.
Antique papers and found objects just delight me.
Festive ornaments look as pretty in a burlap covered bucket as they do on a tree.
Joyful cottage Christmas decorating at its best.
The simplicity of shiny, red ribbon against old barn wood is visually lovely.
Love these knitted stockings for their joyful colors.
Dove of peace is painted on old gate.
Another of one of my favorite spaces, always filled with pretty things.
Big, thrown clay snowman is room for a candle so his face lights up.
It is now 48 days til Christmas and that pretty chalkboard countdown calendar is too cha cha for words.  I could have taken a hundred more photos and still not captured all that you will find at the Buford Queen of Hearts.  So, come celebrate the holidays with us, there is so much to see, to obtain decorating ideas, and of course, find treasure for your home and for gift giving.

Blessings to you and those you love. Sea Witch
