Gynormous Squishy Marshmallows

Have you seen these?  I understand they have been available for several years now, but I just came across them.  They are huge, they are super squishy and they are perfect for fire pits and families and friends.

Campfire brand Giant Roasters are the softest, the squishiest and the tastiest.

Check out the size difference.  Giant Roaster vs standard marshmallow.  I had to send a bag to my son and his family at West Point, NY. They have a fire pit in their yard and all of the kids and neighbors often come by and gather around the fire pit, laughing, talking and enjoying the evening. These bad boys will be (were) a hit.  So much so that I ended up sending them two more bags.

Ran around and did a little junkin with my sister on Saturday. Didn't find much, but the few items I did are already in the shop.

A lovely Italian print, hand colored and dated 1850.  Some foxing but easily repaired via a conservator.

A fantastic roaring 20s wedding dress and veil.  Satin bodice with yards of lace, the hem stops right at the knees.  It's the bees knees and the flapper gal loved to show them off.

Close up of the rows of lace and Lily of the Valley embellishment.

Lovely headdress of bugle beads and was petals with  yards and yards of floor length train veil.

 Closeup of veil lace.

Red, white and blue child's lounge chair from the 1960s and Lady Liberty picture.  I had just finished putting this booth back together, snapped the photo and a customer already grabbed the picture to purchase.

A gorgeous Edwardian wicker rocker in marvelous condition.  It needed a cushion so I added this silk and goose feather pillow.  This was in the store 48 hours and then sold.

Pretty little vintage bentwood child's chair that had layers of paint that was chipping off.  I added a layer of beachy blue and then sanded it strategically for a chippy finish.

I purchased this lemonade pitcher and glasses set a few years ago and sis saw it and grabbed the set.  She finally got tired of it and now it's in the store. LOL. Sis will often "test drive" what I find for a few years and then give it back. Six glasses and pitcher in marvelous condition.  So 1950s, so perfect for a retro patio party.

I love it when I can find decorative rugs in like new condition.  This beautiful Dhurri wool rug was a steal.

Girdle Gals is doing well and I've begun bringing in items for the Fourth of July festivities.  Lots of Red, White and Blue along with Gold and Silver sequined garments.

Love this metallic leather jacket.  Fitted with brass findings.  This has been a fun booth to maintain and I'm having a great time with it.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and I'm off to read other blogs.  Blessings to you and those you love. Sea Witch

Junkin Saturday

It was a lovely weekend.  Kota, my sweet boy is recovering from his stroke nicely.  Amazing how these animals snap back from physical ailments.  He is moving well, but he now curls his paws when he sits down.  No pain, just stiffness and a drunken walk when he first moves.  We went for our Sunday bagel run and he was overjoyed to stick his head out the car window and bark at the passing cars.

My sweet boy.

Sis and I got together to run around on Saturday.  I was in NY the weekend before so it was good to hang out with my baby sister.  We gossip, have lunch and catch up on our lives and laugh like crazy at the silliest of things. We went to a few of our favorite haunts and I got lucky with a few finds.

Nifty little cast iron ice house wagon with draft house.  Not the turn of the century toy, but a nice reproduction from the 1970s.

Found two great antique school house teachers bells.  This #6 has a clear, loud tone and you immediately feel like you are being called from the school grounds and into the school room.  Circa 1880-90s.

A second, smaller bell was nickel plated. Another wonderful tone to it as well.  I just love these old school bells, they make me smile.

A beautiful and heavy crystal perfume decanter.  Nice size, about 8 inches high. A few knicks reduces the value greatly but it is just too pretty to toss away.  I have it priced to steal. LOL

Traditional spun steel, pewter look, eight candle chandelier.  These traditional pieces have clean lines and provide an elegance within any decor.

Vintage crucifix from the 1950s.  Nice size.
A pretty medium size footed EAPG cakeplate.  Pretty pressed designs.
And now, for a marvelous find. Couldn't believe my luck when I saw this baby.
A big, industrial wheel rolling cart.  Deep, black and beautiful.  I fought between keeping it or selling it, but I relinquished to selling it. It is perfect for so many things from laundry, yarns or loaves of piping hot french bread, LOL.

Here is that faboosh cart in my booth filled with an antique bucket bunch, a straight back chair and an oval frame.

A pretty little antique transfer ware and gold lustre plate.

And now, for the best find of the day.  I was was walking to the check out counter to pay for all of the above treasures when I spied this magnificent Early American Pressed Glass  (EAPG) covered compote.
Exquisite.  This beauty is huge and 10 inches in diameter and has that lovely shade of pale sun purple.  You will scream outloud when I tell you I purchased this for $30.00.  YES, thirty smackers...as the British say...I was godsmacked.  I must have it for my personal collection.  I adore EAPG and this is now my crown jewel.  I can't wait to fill it with antique Christmas ornarments or perhaps some homemade candies for the holidays.
Everything but this EAPG covered compote went into my booths.  Many of the Queen of Hearts booths have already begun to add fall and Halloween touches. I need to get started on my two booths redo next week and bring in a touch of fall and Halloween. Have a wonderful week all and blessings to you and those you love.

How was your weekend?

Mine was joyful, dear bloggers. Nothing really spectacular, no eye popping event happened and I didn't win the lottery...but...it was a lovely, fun, lazy, and pleasant weekend where I accomplished a few things off of my "to do list", spent time in the YMCA pool with my sister and Y-friends, had supper at a local Mexi-restaurant, did a little antiquing and YES YES YES, finally finished and packed up my Pay It Forward blog swag. Just to tease you a bit, here is a macro shot of what is on its way to my three Pay It Forward recipients:

How fun are these bright and sunny colors? I adore these latest fabrics that are full of retro patterns and put a smile on your face colors.

Like bloggers Frippery, Sassy Trash, and Garden Antqs Village, I also did a little junkin this weekend and came across an eclectic assortment of treasures. I was "bowled" over by these beach cottage color table top, wooden bowling pins. About 8 inches in height and with the original paint, I picked these up faster than a pickpocket on a carnival runway.

Couldn't resist this pretty little vintage shade. Love the Steuben like colors of the glass with the pretty etching. Had a few chips, but then don't we all.

Pretty Austrian urn from the 1920s would look lovely filled with your favorite fresh flowers. I'm a sucker for pink lustre ware and these gaudy little pieces just make me smile. I have to laugh as my friends know that I'm not a pink kind of gal (unless it is sun faded) much to my granddaughters chagrin. She lives in a pink and lilac world, God bless her. My style is American Primitive combined with Art Nouveau (now that is a unique marriage)...and of course, shells abound everywhere.

Another Pink lustre ware tea cup and saucer and an adorable pair of tiny white silk and beaded Indian shoes for a small child. I know somewhere, out there, a Jasmine wannabe is waiting to find these shoes to complete her outfit too small for my 4 year old granddaughter, these will have to find there way to smaller tootsies.

A complete set of crystal salt cellars AND AND AND with glass salt spoons to match. A terrific find for only a few dollars. You can't see it, but I'm doing the I found a terrific buy happy dance.

Couldn't resist this old speller from the turn of the century and a pair of Reed & Barton silver plate bon bon dishes. Bon Bon dishes...such a 1950's word where lazy housewives were accused of not doing much but sitting around eating bon bons.

Okay, happy dance again. I love vintage general/country store pieces and this turn of the century tin, "multi-use" spice bin is a wonderful acquisition. The faded green and Times Roman lettering of the word "MUSTARD" actually spins to reveal Baking Powder, Ginger, Cloves and another spice faded and washed away that it is no longer known. You lift the top up to drop in whatever spice the mercantile owner would have and the shopper would utilize the porcelain knob to lift up the bottom to retrieve the amount of spice they wanted to purchase. Overall, the piece has pretty waterfall lines to it and it is in marvelous condition for its age.

And last, but not least, the lovely Marie Antoinette herself. Two of my favorite blogs have a fondness for this French lady (The French Elements & My Artful Adventures) . This California Pottery offering is in wonderful condition with only two places missing some lace and that is on the bottom of her gown and the back of her collar. These porcelain lace pieces tend to break away so easily and the fingers are almost always gone...this French lady still has all ten fingers with her sassy red polish.

Had to give you a closeup of her lovely face.

As usual, I can be found at Vintage Village sometime over the weekend taking new photos for their website and depositing some of my found treasures for my booth. So many talented dealers here that I can never walk out without even the smallest purchase. Lots of new things in daily. Below are two photos to entice you to come visit. We have the best shabby, chippy lovingly worn items anywhere in town.

So, this was my weekend and now I'm back at my Monday thru Friday 8 to 5 gig, but hey, it's Tuesday and that means Saturday will be here in three days. Whooo hoooo. Have a joyful week everyone.
