Jersey Boys and junkin

My son and his wife gave me a pair of tickets to the Fabulous Fox theater to see the Jersey Boys for my birthday this past May.  One of my favorite shows, I was just delighted with this gift and couldn't wait to share the marvelous show with my honey.  I'm a "Jersey girl" and was a 4-H "Eager Beaver" who would learn to make tea towels and aprons at Mrs. DeVito's home in Belleville, NJ.  I remember her son and the other "Seasons" coming noisily into her home, grab food from the fridge and then go sit on the swing set at the bottom of the yard and smoke cigarettes and sing.  As a ten year old girl in 1964, I didn't know then that these were the Four Seasons.  I just thought they were very cute boys and were loud and rowdy.

The music is just fantastic from this musical and you can't help by smile as you hear those great songs.  Their stories are  amazing and all that was accomplished was by a shake of the hand.

Before we headed out to the show, I was able to do a little junkin. 

 Found a set of four lovely vintage Princess House water goblets with their original stickers.  

 

Nice, vintage cranberry transferware plate from the 1930s.  Souvenir of Petoskey, Michigan.

Sweet little stoneware creamer...the kind you used to find on every diner table in the 1950-60s.

A fantastic silverplate over copper footed water pitcher.  I will fill this with hydrangeas and then put it in my booth.

A marvelous Victorian quadruple plate serving plate.  Love the pretty etched design in the center.  I will keep this for myself and will use it during the holidays.

A slew of cabinet photos that I will save for Halloween ideas.

 

A pretty vintage carnival glass cup. Brilliant orange lustre.

 I love vintage capidomonte display pieces, especially the ones that are so delicate that you can see the fingerprints on the petals from the craftsman who created it.  Soft watercolor was glazes and these look like the real thing.  This large piece still has the original paper label and the blue hallmark.

Found this nifty birds nest candelabra for votive candles at my local Goodwill for $2.92 and painted it my favorite color...beachy blue.

Another Goodwill find that I also repainted beach blue.  This one holds three, large pillars.

Girdle Gals is doing well and I had to fill the empty hangers that buyers left behind.

Found this marvelous Sugar Street Weavers tapestry jacket at an estate sale.  Lovely tapestry design of sailboats at dock by water colorist, Nick Boehme.  

It was a lovely weekend and way to short as weekends always seem to be.  I'm hoping the rest of the week goes quickly because I'm anxious to get to next weekend already.   Blessings to you and those you love and have a terrific week.  Sea Witch

The Sea is Calling Me

The sea is calling me and my honey and we will be traveling to Playa Del Carmen to visit the liquid world again.  Thursday can't get here quick enough for me as I pack my gear, bathing suits and books. 

 

Say hello to my little friends the Grunts hanging out in Cozumel.  

Over the weekend, I had to pack my booths to the brim since I would be missing a weekends worth of hunting and display.  Found some neat items last Saturday and one of them is this heavy, cast iron floor mat.  

 

I would use this for a decorative element on the wall.

 

Found this marvelous vintage loom with a weaving in progress in the tapestry or Navajo weaving method.  Perhaps someone will want to finish it.

 

Eight luncheon plates of ruby flash Emperor's Crown or thumbprint.  Perfect condition, looks like they sat in a display case and were never used.

 

Pretty little English bone china cup (Royal Albert) and what looks like a matching saucer, but isn't.  Still, it is a nice marriage. I adore using vintage/antique tea cups for my favorite hot drinks.  There is something so delightful about the whole process.

 

I love Catholic statuary and this group of Mary's was a delightful find.  All from the 1960s, and two of them are single bud vases.  

 

Who can resist this beautiful face?  Pretty little Edwardian girl in sailor suit.  Original tin frame with bubbled glass.  Could she be a mermaid wearing her lover's sailor shirt?  Yea, it's the sea talking.

 

Marvelous Civil War silhouette and ink piece. Not old, but a lovely commemorative to the southern cause. 

Too pretty for words and bone china delicate.  Nice late Victorian covered sugar bowl is a larger size than usual.

How amazing is this vintage wicker sofa table from the 1920s...and in excellent condition.  Lots of old white paint from multiple generations too.

Came across a marvelous piece of quad plate as well. Tall, footed creamer has lots of original silver on it. Circa 1890s.

Couldn't resist this pair of silk taffeta, down filled decorative pillows I found at an estate sale.  These were sitting in a second living room that rarely saw anything other than the weekly vacuum.

Can you say PACKED IN?  You can hardly move there is so much in my main booth right now.

Lot's of beachy blue and a popular color.

Lots to nifty beachy blue items for your patio, deck, and porch.

Found two huge stone ware platters from the 1870s and packed in as many pieces of antique transferware that I could find.

Added lots of pieces to Girdle Gals as well.

You can never, ever have too many handbags.

Not a hoodie wearing gal but loads of other gals adore them.

I left for ten minutes to get my camera and two pairs of shoes and three handbags had already left this display.

Weekend Treasure

Lovely weekend that has come to its too short conclusion.   We have entered summer temps...80s and lovely that makes you want to just keep playing.  Got a little painting in and finally created the sign for my clothing and accessories booth...Girdle Gals is now official.  Hard to see in this photo because of the fluorescent overhead glare, but the gold glitter script looks wonderful if I do say so myself. 

 

I've been painting items "beachy blue" this weekend.  My favorite color in several shades transforms the every day into beach cottage chic.

 

Nice vintage wicker table is filled with wrought iron candle cups and stands, a garden obelisk, and a large vintage platter.

 

The large platter was found this weekend.  It is a Johnson's Bros. serving platter with pretty transferware violets and from the 1900s.  The five cup candelabra was found at my local Goodwill for $3.93.  It was rust brown and I love the transformation with the beachy blue paint.

Another Goodwill find, this double tier, wire basket was priced at $5.85.  With a paint redo from black to beachy blue, it has a new look.  I really like this piece so if it doesn't sell, I won't be disappointed.

AND another Goodwill find...these neat decorative elements decorated with straw, cork, and lichens.  Light as a feather with marvelous textures.

 

And now more treasure found this weekend...heavy decorative obelisk.  Perfect for a mantle, a table or patio.

Lovely set of vintage transferware.

 

Exceptional find at a favorite haunt, this extremely rare, rich, flow blue souvenir plate of Miami Florida is amazing.  

 

Have been digging out my vintage Taxco pieces to sell.  Brought in a few, but have a lot more to price and bring in.

 

My honey and I love the series, Downton Abbey set in the early 1900s.  The men are often seen wearing a bowler and looking quite dapper.  This bowler is in as pristine condition as a collector could want and straight from Dobbs, Saks 5th Avenue...the premier men's store for over 150 years.

 

A man's hat needs just the place to hang it on when not wearing it.  Marvelous heavy oak and deer hoof hat rack. Very Edwardian...very Downton Abbey.
