Soft opening and new digs

Oh, how I missed my booth spaces and our customers these past 6 weeks but our governor has initiated the first phase to opening the economy with a soft open for retail stores.  So this Monday, we open our doors again. 

The one positive thing about the shutdown for me was that it allowed me to move from my original space into a new location in my happy place, the Lyon's Head Antique Mall.  We are open 7 days a week so moving or even updating your space can be difficult.  With the shutdown this was an opportunity to prep my new space and move everything over from my old into my new without having to move around customers.

My new space is about ten feet larger and what a difference these ten feet make.   I love a clean palette to begin with and a coat of Griege gray went up on the walls on Saturday.

Now the fun and the work begins.  

 

Moving all of the large furniture means emptying everything first so I filled the store shopping cart several times moving item after item after item.

Amazing how everything looks "new" when you change it up, rotate the stock and display differently from before.

Brought the antique jugs up front and center and they look so happy.

My mantle was the last big piece I moved and I changed it up completely with a religious display.  

Vintage Madonna's, candlestick crucifixes, antique religious prints.

Marvelous antique and vintage figures and mid century images. 

My display case looks great in the corner and has lots of natural light showing off the pieces.

 The open space is fantastic and the table I used to have placed against a wall in my old space now sits in the open space and I can display in a 360 degree layout which actually gives me more display room.

The large table holds so much more now that it is freestanding in the middle of the booth space.

This was a favorite piece of mine that I had in my home in Georgia and in my home in Florida.  It's now time for this sweet little rocker in that favored seafoam blue to find a new home to enjoy as I replaced it with this marvelous drop leaf end table.

 Head over teakettle in mad love with this 19th century piece, from the vibrant tiger maple to the pretty little Sheraton legs. This was a find from my favorite place to shop rusty, crusty, dusty...Junk Co., Port Richey, Florida.

Love that light coming through the front windows.  I got it all done today and now I'm really feeling my age, LOL.   Good and stiff from 5 hours of straight work today but it was worth it.

Time is on my side.

Time was on my side this weekend with two great time piece finds.  

First, this gawgeous Eastlake influence mantle clock that I found in one of my favorite dealers spaces, My Vintage Heart at one of my favorite antique shops, Vintage Village in Snellville, GA.

I actually went in to pick up a lovely piece of coral from another favorite dealer, Gray Glory, and on my way to her space, this beauty called to me.  She has a marvelous sound and I adore the faux celluloid marble overlay. Has a few issues, but then who doesn't, these days.

And that lovely piece of coral that I was coming in to purchase.  Found in Gray Glory's space, I also fell in love with this great oval serving tray.  Smaller than the standard butler trays, this would make a great dresser tray for pretty perfume bottles, hat pins and jewelry.

Just when I thought it couldn't be a better weekend of treasure seeking when this lovely, antique kitchen clock whispers to me.  Smaller than the standard kitchen clock, this beauty has all the right whistles and bells and the original key.  

 A thrift store find, heavy, cast bronze hump backed whales circling a gorgeous and heavy, end of day like glass globe light.   I'm always amazed at what people donate to a thrift store.

 Couldn't believe I found this Weller flower frog at a thrift store.  In great condition and a pretty green color.

I can never pass by a china tea cup without lifting it to the light to see if it is a lithophane. Found a pair of vintage, cups and saucers with gorgeous Geisha's inside.

These adorable leprechaun decanters were an auction win.  From the 1970s, all are music boxes that once held Irish Whiskey.  

 Adore antique carnival glass and I found these cobalt glasses at a local haunt.  Brilliant lustre, they now reside in my home display case.

 An auction win, this carved walnut Victorian rocker is so comfortable.  Original upholstery velvet has faded to a soft peach color.

 Found this pair of Patriotic postcards at Vintage Village.

 Drooling over this faboosh, antique porch rocker. My favorite seafoam green color and this baby is low to the ground. It is now my new spinning chair...for when I spin on my spinning wheels.  You need a seat that is low to the ground so you are not "hunched over" the wheel while you spin.  This rocker is so comfortable that you can rock and "spin" the hours away.  Another Vintage Village find, it was raining down treasure this weekend.

And finally, the first "seawitch" oil lamp I have ever come across. Seafoam green with scales along the top of the glass. All original, this lovely hanging oil lamp is my new favorite piece.  Heard from a facebook gal pal that this is also considered dragon scales and is a rare piece.  I adore oil lamps and use them all of the time.  I'm just head over teakettle with this piece.   It was a lovely, long weekend for me.  Took Friday off to make it a four day affair and I was busy antiquing, painting furniture and paid my respects at a local Memorial Day event.  Hope your weekend was full of blessings...and wishing you blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch 

Pulling a Clampett

Well the first thing you know, ole Jed's a millionaire...and I was channelling Granny Clampett with an auction win.

Wasn't planning on bidding on yet another chair (I have a weak spot for them) but this gorgeous, walnut carved, tufted rocker was a steal.  Why is it on the roof of my pilot?  Well, I had an amazing step back cupboard in side and the rocker just wouldn't fit.

An auction win, heavy milk glass from the 1940s.  These are always highly sought after pieces and I have them priced to move so they won't hang around long.

Brilliant iridescent carnival glass condiment server by Indiana Glass from the 1970s.  Gorgeous blues and purples.

Everyone loves Jadeite and this covered candy dish rooster will be the cock of the walk on your table.

Lovely etched EAPG compote is a keeper and a thrift store find.

Nice pair of heavy, celluloid hand mirrors from the early 1900s.  These are great decorating elements.

Followers of my blog know how I gravitate towards these copper clad, baby shoes.  I like the ones that are not attached to bookends or other bases. The free shoes are fun to decorate with and make great baby shower gifts.  

Stunning, heavily cut crystal pitcher from the American Brilliant period.  Has some chips along the lip and an internal crack but it is still a beauty and throws rainbows with ease.

Cannot forget the groom during wedding week.  Lovely pair of etched Cambridge liquor decanters with chrome dispensers.  

Dimple fine scotch whiskey by Haig is a gorgeous bottle surrounded with pewter.  These Dimple bottles are highly collectible.

Sweet set of Coronation china, Johnson Bros. England.

Came across some marvelous vintage photographs of wedding images.  They are in my spaces at the Buford Queen of Hearts.

 These wedding photos are so neat. Fun to see the change in fashion for both men and women.

My main space has a section for the wedding events that are going on at all three Queen of Hearts.  

 Have had to refill the space twice last week.  Learned that all three decanters sold as I write this post so gotta bring in more stuff on Thursday evening.

Thank you for being  a friend.  Nice vintage 1980s, Golden Girls wedding dress.  

One of the last items to go up for bid at Saturday's auction was this lovely 19th century step back cupboard with gorgeous wavy glass.  Wasn't planning on bidding on it as it is just over 7 feet tall but when the opening bid began at $20.00 I had to jump in.  I consider this an adult happy meal as I won this gorgeous piece for the price of a dinner.

 Original finish, wavy glass, dovetailing and movable shelves, I decided to keep it rather than sell it.

 I have it filled with my quad plate collection and am loving this new piece in my home.

It was a lovely Mother's Day weekend with love from my sons families and lots of grandchildren.  Hope our weekend was lovely too and blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch
