Fall, Finds, and Halloween at the Queen

Saturday was a beautiful fall day.  Rolling, gray clouds and our trees are starting to burst into color. There is a lot of magic in a day like this.  You can feel the air move around you. Snapped this photo just as we left to head out to lunch.

Sis and I spent the day running around to a few of my favorite haunts.  We spent so much time laughing and gossiping that the day just flew by.  Spent more time laughing with sis than junkin but still found some great pieces.

I love vintage carnival glass and marigold is perfect for Halloween and Thanksgiving decorating.  Pretty crackle candy dish has a rich, orange luster.

Mid century, carnival glass decanter.  This one still has the original cork in the stopper.  I come across these every few years and sell them as quickly as I can find them.  One of those pieces that everyone seems to like.

Beautiful piece of quality silver plate.  This footed server has a brilliant luster to it and will look lovely on a holiday buffet or table.

It was another good weekend of silver plated pieces.  Along with the large server above, I found an oval drink tray and a pretty little serving tray.  Both rich in their luster and heavy.

Sweet little wrought iron corn dryer. This is a tiny one an all that remains of these tiny Indian corn ears are the cobs.

Found this beautiful Depression era quilt at my local Goodwill.  Hand stitched and quilted from grain sacks and ticking.  Heavy quilt was most likely used as a carriage or hay wagon blanket.

Pretty, hand hewn treenware bowl.  I think it is perfect for displaying vintage china doll parts.

Yes, that is a vintage Davos sled with bent wood runners and molded iron skids.   Really hard to find in the south as we have such mild winters and rarely see snow.  This sled is in usable condition and will make a lovely Christmas display.  I've seen these turned into coffee tables by laying a heavy piece of table glass on them.

And last, but not least, this marvelous antique wicker flower stand.  Shamelessly dirt cheap, I can't wait to fill it with poinsettias, tiny white lights and decorative glitter stems and a big holiday ribbon.

Throughout the year, I purchase unique glass containers from my local Goodwill and I fill them with items that have a Halloween look.    The large footed container on the left, has a black glitter witch tree in it.  The large container in the center holds a skull nestled in muslin type netting and the container on the right has a vintage doll baby head with feathers and glitter pics.   You can find marvelous pieces for pennies and create really neat holiday themes.

On Sunday, I brought most of the items to my booths at Queen of Hearts, Buford.  Such a great store with several hundred dealers and they are filling their spaces with great Halloween items.  So I thought I would share some photos of what I saw in many of those booths.

How about this happy wedding couple.  Life size and in a wedding tux and gown, I laughed out loud when I saw it.  Halloween perfection!

From the same booth, a nifty display of skulls and crows.

I like the simplicity of design and often the best displays are every day objects with seasonal elements.  How pretty this display is.

This booth is next to mine and they always have fun holiday items.  It's hard to not walk by and make a purchase.

What a sweet pumpkin face this piece is.  Another favorite booth of mine, she always has understated elegance to her booth.

So many ideas can be found at the Queen of Hearts along with great buys.

Another example of creative, yet simple decorating.  This dealer inverted a basket, added a black crow and a autumn pick.

I thought this was such a fun way to decorate for Halloween.  Perfect for your patio or deck or if you have a covered entryway.  Light and fun.

If your bird cage doesn't hold a bird, then it is the perfect receptacle for seasonal decor.  This dealer filled it with raffia and her favorite fabric pumpkins.

So glad that you stopped by to read my posts.  Have a lovely week and blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch
