Now that's a delicatession

Had to make a run to the local supermarket for a few Thanksgiving "staples". Kerry, the twins and I spent hours walking through this fantastic supermarket, but it was the deli that brought me to my knees. I'm New Jersey born and raised and had local butcher shops, milk men, bakeries and deli's all around me. I have had the great fortune to live and visit many places across the US and overseas and presently residing in Georiga...all have introduced me to the flavor that makes each unique, but it is the deli's and the bakeries that I miss most of all. Walking into this store was like coming home. I didn't know which way to turn first.
Supermarket in Vicenza...yes, that is the delicatessen area. Be still my heart.

Case after case of meats, cheeses, olives, salads, ready to eat meals.

Fresh Vegies, beautiful and fresh.

Braids of garlic.

Fresh, ripe and red tomatoes. These are the size of baseballs.

It's all big in Italy. Check out the size of that salami...so big, they needed a dolly to move it.

So many wonderful cheeses to select from.

Fresh wheels of aged cheeses.

Fresh pizza pies for the lunch crowd.

Couldn't resist a slice and a coke.

The twins sleeping as we check boots out at the local shoe store.

Mommy feeding the twins.

Sweet Kit Kat greeting me at the airport. This sweet girl holds my heart in her hands.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Sea Witch

Hi there, wow what a find! Whatever you do don't EVER come to England for food, although we have a small amount of deli's and producers, they are scattered around the cuntry and can be difficult to find, although we are European the majority of us are happy to spend our lives trundling around the horrible supermarkets that rule our lives! Enough of that....the raviolis look very cuddly make sure that you get enough, and treasure the time with Kitkat, as you know they soon grow up...... continue to have a fab time, you lucky, lucky girl. The food was marvelous in Italy, and you don't gain any weight because you spend so much time walking from restaurant to restaurant (haha). I loved my visit there. Like you, I also love the sea -- I don't scuba dive, but my true love is snorkeling. It's a magical underwater world, so colorful and flowing. I would love to live closer to the water. I live in the midwest. The closest body of water we have is that muddy Mississippi. I shutter at what I would find in that river.

Beautiful grandbabies....and spending Thanksgiving in Italy with them.....Life does not get any better! ENJOY!!
I missed my opportunity to visit Italy as I am so fearful of flying. ): Therefore, I must see it through the eyes of others. It is truly another world.
Take care.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family in beautiful Italy. Oh, what I would give to shop in that deli...I'd need a lot of money though, cause I would want to try everything! And then there is the pounds I would put on...guess it's a good thing I can't get there from here. Hugs, Kathleen

Hi Dari,
Precious family! Wow, I could move right into that deli. Everything is bigger in Italy.

Enjoy your time with your family. Give that soldier son a "proud Army mom hug" from me.

hugs,
Barb
