Keepin it all!!!

I'm keeping it all...LOL.  Welllllll, not really but I am keeping a few of the treasures I found last weekend. Starting with this faboosh flow blue plate.  I adore 18th century soft paste ware and this is such a pretty piece.  Yea, I'm keeping it.

 While visiting Vintage Village last Saturday I purchased this lovely oak frame with carved script and original etched print. Will add a new piece of glass and off to my booth it goes.

 

 Hey, who is that handsome boy? That's my wile e coyote, Kota.  He is such a sweet boy.  He was in the middle of a yawn when I snapped this picture.

Pretty, Victorian paperweight. Heavy, cut crystal.

Pretty tin crown is perfect for your favorite statues and is a lovely decorative element. I actually got two of these and they are a little bigger than a baseball.

Another keeper, I collect antique carnival glass, the pieces from the turn of the century for their brilliant matt lustre.  I have a few good pieces that I have found over the years and twice as many pieces that have chips and cracks but still wonderful for display.  Often known as the poor man's Tiffany glass, I just like its iridescence.  This bad boy is a rare, funeral vase and stands 17.5 inches tall.  Heavy and just gorgeous, I am crazy about it.

Was fortunate to find lovely Bavarian pieces filled with decorative roses like this pretty "Berry Set" below.  The softest, white roses are on the four berry bowls and a large serving bowl.

A gorgeous rose bowl with pretty edging.  This piece is a real beauty.

Loving this Victorian quadruple plate vase.  Heavy and with a pretty etched design all around.  Lots of original silverplate.

 

This is such a sweet little hand colored illustration from a weekly pen dated 1876.  Original frame.

Found a pair of vintage footed cake plates.  I really like the plain ones best as they remind me of the diners of my youth growing up in New Jersey. I actually have two of my own that I use over the holidays, but I'm starting to look at adding a third one with this beauty below.

A batch of vintage, bamboo barker canes from the 1930s.  They are just plain cool and I can visualize the carnival barkers shooing people into the sideshows.  I tied flag ribbons to them to jazz them up for the 4th.

 

Sweet little baby doll is sitting in an adorable, vintage wicker basket.

Grouped the terrariums together and topped two of them with the pretty tin crowns.

To make a little room in the booth, I moved one of the wicker rockers onto the farm table.  It allowed me to bring in the antique wrought iron bird cage which enhanced the display.

 And of course, that fantastic bird cage.  Huge and on the original stand.

 I'm digging this Wednesday, mid week holiday as it breaks up the work week. My honey and I did an early movie this morning and saw Snow White and the Huntsman.  Terrific retelling of the fairy tale and it leaves the story open for a sequel. I hope they follow up with one.  Charlize Theron was fantastic as the evil queen and the effects were just amazing.

Hot time at Vintage Village and...

It's a HOT HOT HOT weekend and the temps are still sizzling around the country.  Our A/C is running it's little heart out and can only get the house cooled to a balmy 86 degrees.  I've taken so many cold showers today that I'm actually looking forward to going to work tomorrow to cool off. Still, I had to do a little junkin on Saturday so it was off to a few of my favorite haunts before the heat of the day really kicked in.   Picked up a marvelous wrought iron bird cage on a stand from the 1920s. 

 

This is in amazing condition and I love the hexagonal shape.  Found other treasure of which I will share with later post this week.

Following this find, I headed out to Vintage Village in Snellville, GA to say hello to old friends and to check out some of the new dealer booths. Additionally, the little shop out back has a new renter and I was anxious to see what treasures lied within.

 

Vintage Village has such creative dealers and I love the way this dealer repurposed old license plates into key chains. Tough and yet lightweight, the edges have been sanded smooth so there are no sharp edges.

Sweet little shabby cottage washstand holds lots of scrabble tiles.

 

Okay, I'm digging the stop light shades.  Would spin these around enough so I could store rolled thick and thirsty bath towels in.

 

 This cutie is a tiny little table dressed for a party.

 

A pair of lovely Venetian glass lamps in the palest shade of celery with pretty painted pink roses on them.  

 

Don't you just love the name on this portable gas can..."The Gasser".  Perfect item for a man cave.

 

Everyone needs a bag of vintage clothespins.

 

Love these stacking, double drawers for your kitchen.  Yes, kitchen item from the 1930s.  

Check out the old door and saw horses repurposed into a table. 

 

Who says you have to have a matching pair of salt and peps?  Why not just have a pair of pretty ones of your choice on your table...or better yet, buy one and fill with lavendar talc and sprinkle your sheets each night for a comfy and gentle nights sleep.

 

How pretty is this sewing table?  I love the refinishing on it.

Too cute, this vintage, USA pottery watering can in my favorite color...beachy blue.

Call me crazy but I adore the display marriage of a summer cooler next to a basket of vintage Christmas ornaments. Found and purchased an assortment of treasure from Vintage Village (will share in my next post this week) and then moved on to the shop behind the shop to see what I could find.

 

Just a few feet from Vintage Village, it is always nice to walk to another shop for treasure.  Additionally, there hours match those of Vintage Village so you can make it a double shopping event.

 

There is something very personal about a chalk board welcome that I like.  You know a "person" had to create the sign by hand which means they are vested in you as a shopper.  

 

It was a joy to step out of the sweltering 100+ temps into a cool and comfy shop and a pretty little table filled with these decorative pitchers meets you as you walk in.  The owners have decorated small vignettes of space into specific collecting areas. Clever, it is filled with antique and vintage choices for everyone.

 

A set of school lockers that have so many uses.  If my bathroom was large enough, I would have bought these to put in it. I would fill them with guest towels, soaps and candles, magazines and hair products and appliances.  How fun would that be?

 

Does anyone else see the humor in this "Crappie" corn bread mold?  Super heavy, I may go back and get this, just to serve Crappie corn bread. 

What a clever idea...repurposing a small table into a chalkboard.  Kids would love this.

 

How about this unique pair of paint by number sportman boards?   Love this display.

Pretty little vintage chandelier and priced right.

This box of colorful lace caught my eye.  It's all about the colors for me. So glad this little shop is open and I will be back again. Hot Finds

 It's Hot Hot HOT in Hot'lanta.  Temps have been in the high 90's and we have hit 100 degrees plus in some parts of the state.  Took a road trip to Monroe to see if I could find pieces to replenish what I have sold this last week.  Especially needed some wicker chairs as I sold what I had and my regulars are asking for more.

I sold the 1920s wedding dress and veil last week so I had to bring in another piece.  In keeping with the roaring 20s theme, I bought in a personal favorite...a lovely, white crushed velvet Great Gatsby dress.  Soft, flattering and with a rhinestone bodice that is replicated down the back.

 A sweet little Beatrix Sherman silhouette from the early 1900s.

 

Fell in love with this tobacco cut plug tin lunch bucket.  Beautiful litho of George Washington with tobacco stamps on side.

 

Found another Victorian EAPG top hat and added patriotic ribbons to the largest ones.  They look  good next to the Centennial piece for George and Martha.  

 

Found another glass terrarium and placed it over a Hallmark music box snow globe. I don't usually pick up Hallmark items, but this one was 88 cents at my local Goodwill.  I just couldn't resist it as it plays the National Anthem.

 

Tin star metal boxes in Americana colors, vintage baby doll, antique cigar box and an antique school bell make a nice display. 

 

I love antique school bells and this pretty little desk piece has the most delightful sound.  When you ring the bell you can imagine the sounds of children ceasing their play and coming into the classroom.  Circa 1880s.

A terrific find, this cigar box from the turn of the century is a seasonal gift box that is shaped like a book.  Brass clasp.  Wooden cigar box collectors will love this antique piece.

Found this great wire basket with candle cups on it.  Painted it up my favorite color...beachy blue.

 Sorry for the tilted photo, but all of these shots were taken with my phone as I forgot my camera.  I must have had it tilted when I shot it.  Pretty ladies wash stand pitcher.  This is a smaller one and is perfect for fresh hydrangeas.

 

SCORE!!! I found this pair of vintage rockers from the 1920s at one of my favorite shops in Monroe.  Other than having to hose the dust off of these beauties I was able to bring them in and they are ready to put in your outdoor living space.

 My booth is packed to the gills with the items I found this weekend.  Oh, wait, there's more.  I actually found a third wicker chair but will bring it in when I sell these two. It was spray painted a shiny coffee brown color that looked awful.  I repainted it my signature color...beachy blue and it looks fantastic.  I will share that photo on a future post because I want to tell you about the new spray paint I found at Home Depot that provides coverage like I have never seen before.

Yea, those are Coach shoes.  Found these at my local Goodwill. In near perfect condition.

It was a wonderful junkin trip even with the heat.  I was drenched with sweat and was glistening like the blue ribbon sow at a county fair and couldn't wait to jump into the pool.

 The kiddie pool that is.  Hey, if you can't have a big pool in the yard, then this SeaWitch will settle for a kiddie pool to cool off in.  As you can see it is big enough for a raft for me to float on, so honey...I'm home, whip up a batch of margaritas and come sit with me and tell me about your day.
