Nothing, nothing, Oh boy!

The last few weekends have been pretty quiet with, believe or not, no treasure to be found. It happens, sometimes there is nothing that catches you eye.  However, last Saturday was a day of jackpots with great pieces and even better prices.  My local Goodwill was a treasure trove of goodness.

Nice pair of darners, especially the big one.  These are now in my personal collection.

This Goofus glass serving bowl has chippy cold paint but the EAPG pattern is lovely.

I adore antique EAPG and will use this butter keeper for my table. Has a nice hint of sun purple too.

Charming little bread server with a lucky horseshoe is another EAPG find.

Another EAPG found in the wild, a terrific comport. This one is in my personal collection now. Pattern: Dewdrop in Points, Greensburg Glass, 1880s.

Rare, Jefferson Glass EAPG celery vase with speckled green frit. Circa 1902.

Pretty little, 1900s creamer with lily of the valley transferware pattern.
This will be in my main space at the Lyon's Head Antique Mall.

Lucky me, the Goodwill was offering up these marvelous 1900s serving bowls for pennies.

All that nice serving size for mashed potatoes and fresh vegies,  I will keep the price low to pass on the same joy to my customers.

Vintage Pawley Gnome Figurine Tom Clark Gnome--Sea Shell Figurine-Sand Castle. Retired. 1984. These are such charming little figurines and this gnome celebrates our beautiful coastal living.

Vintage Carnival Glass, Marigold, Ribbed Candy Dish with Lid. Manufacturer: Jeanette. Circa 1960s

Finally, a sweet grouping of vintage pottery baby shoes that are just too cha cha for words.

My granddaughter graduated from high school this year and I didn't want to send her just a check, so I decided to create a money crown for her.

I added three butterflies in the center of the crown that signify her growth.

Used my "gum chain" skills from when I was her age to create the body of her money crown.  One hundred and one dollars was the final result.

Many of us are watching our children and grandchildren graduate and enter the world as young adults with new ideas and family values.  I wish luck and joy and inquisitiveness to all of them.

And always, blessings to you and those you love. Sea Witch

It's all about ME!

It's been one of those weekends where the treasure that I found was eclectic and all over the place.  From auction wins, visits to local Goodwills and of course Vintage Village, I was a treasure finding fool.

Gorgeous round hand crocheted in the popular Pineapple pattern of the 1950s, this table cloth is in lovely condition.

Set of three English pewter measures and all have their weights/measures inspectors stamps.

Rare, store display for miniature cigars was an auction win.

Adore prisms and this candlestick is extremely heavy with the thickest and heaviest prisms I have every come across. Full of rainbow fire, this came home to live with me.

Sweet little silverplated bell was black with patina and a Goodwill find.  It polished up beautifully and would make a lovely way to announce the entrance of a new bride and groom.

Lovely cut to clear, marigold decanter was another Goodwill find.

Isn't she lovely?  Pretty bust of a period woman makes a marvelous display for staging jewelry, so this is a piece I will keep for me.

Adore antique carnival glass and my visit to Vintage Village garnered this lovely find.  It is at home in my display case with other carnival glass pieces.  Another find for me.

Be still my quad loving heart.  Another Vintage Village find that is now part of my personal collection and yet, another find for me.

Nothing like a deadstock vintage girdle.

and it's little friend, a deadstock vintage, long line bullet bra.  Both found at Vintage Village.

A thrift store find, more deadstock merchandise.  Vintage beads in glass vials in the original display card.

Marvelous finger oil lamp.  This is a keeper as I use them on my deck in the evening when the nights are gentle.  Another find for me.

How about this twin set of covered turkey dishes.  A Goodwill find, these will make their way to my booth space over Thanksgiving.

A pair of gorgeous, late Victorian umbrella's with rolled gold and mother of pearl handles.  Both were found at Vintage Village.

 Both came home for me.

Isn't she lovely?  Isn't she wonderful?  Gorgeous yard long dated 1914 was an auction win and she is now in my Victorian space at the Buford Queen of Hearts.

Pretty set of three depression era luncheon plates were a thrift store find.

Pretty cut crystal plate is heavy and make a lovely candle support.  A thrift store find, I'm still on the fence about selling or keeping so for now, it is home with me.

So you can see, I have kept many of these recent finds for me which made this treasure hunt all about me.  I must admit, I feel a bit shameless about keeping so many of my recent finds...but that feeling should pass soon.  In closing...

Blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch

White Shell Wednesday

I know, I know, it is after Labor Day and all things wearably white should be retired according to fashion etiquette. However, I just couldn't resist this terrific photo of a summer purse decorated with mostly white sea shells.

Pretty little pearlized handles with natural sea shells and coral, this is such a sweet little vintage purse that I find purely joyful. Decorated with assorted size cockle shells, spiral snail shells, tiny pieces of fan coral, a few sliced periwinkles, lots of faux pearls and let's not forget the plastic mint green leaf glued to it. Not sure what the decorating thought was behind that touch but it is in keeping with "bags my grandmother living in Florida would carry." hahahahaha.

When you look at the wicker purse, it really is an easy item to decorate and now I'm wondering if I should be looking for these wicker purses at yard sales and Goodwill's to decorate myself. I have tons of shells (you would expect nothing less from a Sea Witch) and would enjoy embellishing these bags over the winter season for summer sale. I think I may have just talked myself into yet another project.

September is almost over, thanks for stopping by, and I wish everyone a pretty white shell Wednesday. Sea Witch

A $2.02 frame from Goodwill.

Big, plastic and brown with a faded print...oh the possibilities.

Add can of satin finish black spray paint,

add a craft sponge,

and a little bit of white acrylic paint.

...and wait until tomorrow to see its transformation.

Stop by and take a peek at my

latest header. After doing battle with my blog header design several weeks ago, I had decided that I would periodically change it out utilizing photographs I have taken of my sea world experienced first hand. I received many emails regarding the below photo featured in the posting, Things in my House" (http://musingsofaseawitch.blogspot.com/2009/07/things-in-my-house.html) .
Macro shot of the lampshade made out of sea shells.
This is one of those marvelous "finds" that I came across at my local Goodwill store. It was tossed in the corner of the sporting goods section. I nearly squealed with delight when I saw it and unbelieveably, not one shell was broken. It now resides in my living area and is one of my favorite pieces when lit (other than my hubby...okay, bad joke, but it begged to be said).

Below is a macro shot of the shade with the light turned off. You can see the fine sand that was used over the grout to give it the appearence of a beach covered with shells.

I love the look of the lit macro shot as it played against my blog background colors that I thought it would make a wonderful blog header. So a little photoshop magic and my narrative copy now fits the new header color scheme and the Sea Witch blog has a new header...or at least until the winds of change blow in again. Have a safe and delightful weekend. Sea Witch
