My Sisters Antiques Candlelight Event

  Wednesday evening was the My Sisters Antiques Candlelight Holiday Event and it was amazing.  Took lots of photos and I would have had them loaded and posted sooner, but when I went to upload them I received an error message saying I reached my one GIG quota and until I obtained more space I could no longer load any more photos.  With two blogs and a third one ready to be launched (more on that later in the month), I purchased more space and now I'm back on track with my posts.

 My Sisters Antiques, one of my favorite antique shops in the metro Atlanta area,  is owned by two sisters who are an absolute delight.  They have filled their shop with dealers who offer marvelous antiques and vintage pieces and when you visit their shop they greet you like old and dear friends.  You never want to leave.  This is their second annual holiday event and as last year, it is first class all the way.

 

Holiday lighting greeted you at both the front and back entrance.  The double red doors of the back entrance seem to be everyone's favorite way to enter and the sisters had pretty wreaths on the doors and lights everywhere.

Not only was the parking lot filled to capacity but the store was wall to wall shoppers.  I love to see shops filled with happy shoppers.

Two lovely tables groaned with homemade cakes, desserts, fresh cheeses and fruits, sparking ciders and punch and of course, Christmas cookies of every type.  All under pretty lights and burning candles.  The 8 inch high Red Velvet Cake and the Coconut Cake were the two hot items to indulge in.  I watched grown men weak in the knees and mothers weeping with joy from partaking in these two cakes. 

So many pretty things to see, so I will let the photos do most of the talking.

One of my long time antique friends, Pam, is an uber talented woman who creates amazing fabric pieces, jewelry and the prettiest garland you will ever find anywhere.  Her items are magical.

I wanted this vintage Santa costume but the "sisters" refused to part with it.  I will have to try and wear them down...I want this so badly.

As you can see by the photos, there was so much to see.  I purchased a few items and among them were a Victorian rug beater, a Victorian compote with cupids and vintage gold tinsel from the 1930s.  These Candlelight events are always so much fun as so many of my antique colleagues were there.  We get to talk and gossip and share what treasure we have found all over pretty lights and homemade goodies.  I hope you have the opportunity to attend these special event where you live.  Have a wonderful weekend all and blessings to you and those you love.  Sea Witch

a little of this, a little of that

So much going on that I'm playing catch up again.  I'm not the only one busy with life as I see so many blogs I love have disappeared and other bloggers have either taken an extended break or just stopped blogging altogether.  I miss them but understand that life throws "stuff" at us and we must adapt.  I have also slowed my posts down these past few months for the same reason.  So much is going on at my corporate job that I am hard pressed for time anymore.  Hopefully, that will slow down in another month or two as I miss blogging and especially reading all of the different blogs I adore visiting.

Finished and shipped Miss Kit Kat's birthday princess gown.  She had specific fabric colors and requested lots of sparkles. 

And of course, a sparkly crown with crystal hearts that move as she does.

My sweet 6-cheese ravioli just loves her pink and purple gowns.

Designed and created the website for a marvelous local antique shop called My Sisters Antiques.  Website is fully launched and includes the lovely photography of Robin Ewing.   Located in Loganville, GA, it is owned and run by two sisters, Angie and Cristy and of course their beloved dogs, Spanky and Chelsea.  These ladies are marvelous women and adore antiques as much as those folks who come in to the shop to buy them.  They have terrific dealers, as well as what the sisters bring to their shop, and offer the shopper a wide variety of antiques, mantiques, vintage and retro items and everything shabby you could want.  One of my favorite places to shop for myself.  If you are ever in the Loganville area, My Sisters Antiques is a must stop for treasure.

Got a little treasure hunting in on Saturday.  Not alot of finds, but the few pieces I found I was thrilled with.

A huge 19th century soft paste platter with unusual dark green trim.  Marked Staffordshire ADAMS, this huge platter has served lots of tasty meals.  I'm kinda hoping it won't sell as I would love to serve Christmas turkey with all of the trimming on it this year. 

A killer find.  Victorian, cut crystal tulip bowl wine glasses from the 19th century. Extraordinary stemware that reflects light like diamonds.

I adore vintage wrought iron or aluminum pieces. 

This hanging lamp is so retro.

 A lovely Victorian parlour tablecloth.  Cutwork, crochet fillet and knitted edges accent this neat piece.

I am a sucker for these mid-Victorian condiment servers.  This quad platted server has cherubs all around it it and all of the condiment cellars.  They held oil and vinegar, pepper, sugar, honey and whatever local sauces that were used in regional board of fare. My first memory of these servers was as a child.   I saw one in the 1938, black and white Tom Sawyer movie. 

Aunt Polly had one sitting in the middle of her dining room table. Talk about period authenticity.  Tom's adventures were set in the early 1870s and this 1938 movie kept the period details accurate.  I guess I was bit of a "movie snob" at a young age. LOL. Still, to this day, if the details aren't right in a film it will annoy me to no end.

My Sisters Antiques

As mentioned in my previous post, I had a lovely weekend visiting a friends home and then it was on to a visit to My Sister's Antiques where I would take photos of their shop as I am working on a website design for them.  Located on the historic Main Street in Loganville, this is one of my favorite shops to visit.  Wonderful antiques, both large and small, every genre you could hope for and the "sisters" are just as delightful as the lovely items found inside their shop.

The back entrance to My Sisters Antiques.  I love the repurposed use of a turn of the century oak dresser mirror that now serves as their sign.  How creative.

Set a spell if you like and say hello to the kitty when it shows up.

These ladies know how to display and it is always a visual treat to walk through their store.

I adore this pretty little cabinet.  I really should break down and jut purchase it.

I love chippy, shabby cottage things.  They have such a comfort value to them.

You can never, ever have too many crystal chandeliers.  This one is gorgeous.  Just think of all of the rainbows you can have in your favorite room when the sun shines through the crystals.

Pretty little marble top and oak washstand.  Love the beaded details.

Genuine, vintage fireman helmets are hard to come by.    This will not stay long in the shop as it is priced to take home now.

Now these are my kind of cupcakes.  Such a clever display idea using cupcake liners to enhance pretty rhinestone pieces.
